An Introduction, of Sorts

Welcome to Frisch Lifestyle! There is a lot coming soon to this page, but first, a little bit about me.

My name is Leigh Kade, and I own a Vegan Restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah. We call it Frisch, which is German for FRESH. And fresh is pretty much the emphasis on this page. I want to share with you a fresh outlook on life. Some of it is mine, some of it is adapted, and in some cases, it is borrowed.

I recently discovered that I had been doing some things in life in a counter-productive way. I was getting sedentary, and starting to pack on some old weight that I had worked pretty hard to take off. Something was wrong, but I wasn't sure what.

Then it hit me, on Thanksgiving night, of all things. I was drifting through life, pretty much living from day to day without really LIVING each day! I found some resources online, and found out that there are ways to work with yourself to get the most out of life. It's a lot of work, but the results are dramatic. In the last two months, I have seen absolutely staggering changes in how I look at life.

It all breaks down into three areas, and that's what we'll focus on at Frisch Lifestyle!

Body: The human body is an amazing thing, and it's pretty forgiving of the stress, wear, and abuse we put it through. But over time, it starts to break down. Injury, illness, and age start to take a toll on you. By better understanding what we eat, the need to move, and how we fit into the world, we can navigate our lives much easier.

Mind: I really believe that when we stop learning, we start dying. An active mind is a strong mind, so we need to exercise it. Cognitive exercises help keep the mind supple and healthy. Reading, and challenging yourself to learn new things can keep your mind fresh. By challenging ourselves, we better ourselves, and better the world we live in.

Spirit: We are drifting farther out of touch with the planet we live on as a culture. Media saturation and hectic work schedules have pulled us farther and farther away from the simple contemplation of Self. We can get back to those roots through meditation, and other simple forms of reflection and contemplation!

I will be sharing recipes, ideas about food and our relationship with it, exercise motivation, and thoughts on how to slow down and live in the now. And I'll also be learning while sharing with you, and hopefully learn as we go!
